Contract Signing Rio Lindo Hydropower Strengthening Project, Republic of Honduras

October 20, 2022

We have signed a contract for the renewal of power generation facilities (procurement and installation of main and auxiliary equipment) for the Rio Lindo hydroelectric power plant strengthening project in the Republic of Honduras.

Rio Lindo hydroelectric power plant, to which we supplied the equipment in the 1970s, has the second largest installed capacity in Honduras at 80 MW and plays an important role as a stable power source.
The technical performance and experience of the plant, which has been in sound operation since its commercial operation in the 1970s, were highly evaluated, and Hitachi Mitsubishi Hydro Corporation was awarded an overall contract for the design, installation, and commissioning of the main facilities.
The project will also work to increase the output of water turbines per unit by 8% by improving equipment efficiency using the latest technology.
The repowering of the hydroelectric power plant, which will be financed by ODA Loan from Japan's Official Development Assistance, will help to enhance the hydroelectric power plant as a renewable energy source, reduce CO2 emissions, and mitigate the adverse effects of climate change.
In addition, the project is expected to extend the life of the plant and provide a stable supply of electricity at low cost, which will lead to a stable energy supply in Honduras and contribute to the country's economic development.
With our technologies and services, we will contribute to the realization of a carbon-neutral society and the development of electric power infrastructure.
